Abstract

Potato growers had adopted a good number of recommended practices such as improved variety, planting time, crop rotation, harvesting, storage by desi heap method, tillage, manuring, planting by plough, planting distance, earthing up, irrigation, insect control, chemical fertilizer, seed rate and hand weeding. Potato growers had made some modifications in potato cultivation technologies to get more production in local situation. These modifications were to plant their crop early or late, to get high prices, keep own produce for seed purpose, discontinuance of seed treatment and application of FYM at alternate year.
