Daminozide, an antigibberellin agent, is effective in inducing potato microtubers. It has a beneficial effect on source-sink coordination during microtuberization, and significantly increases the microtuber size in an early maturing genotype. However, it does not exert any positive effect on microtuber induction and development during cytokinin-induced tuberization in vitro. Its effect on microtuber dry matter has been found to be genotype-specific with a general trend of decreasing % dry matter content with increasing concentrations of daminozide.
