Optimizing potassium requirements of Chipsona cutivars for West-Central plains

Abstract

A field study conducted at Modipuram during 2000–2002 indicated that process grade (> 45 mm) and total tuber number increased with the application of potash over control, however, stem number and leaf number were not influenced as a result of different K levels. Tuber number and tuber weight/plant were higher in cv. Kufri Chipsona-1 (9.12 and 457.2 g, respectively) than cv. Kufri Chipsona-2 (8.13 and 397.5 g, respectively). Significant increase in process/total tuber yields and net returns was recorded up to 150 kg K2O/ha, hence this dose was recommended for Chipsona cultivars grown in west-central plains.
