Field experiments were carried out to assess the effect of Chromolaena odorata and Lantana camara as source of plant nutrients for growth, yield and nutrient uptake of potato during rabi seasons of 2002 and 2003 at Main Research Station, Hebbal, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. The results revealed that application of 100% NPK with 10 t FYM/ha recorded the highest leaf area duration, absolute growth rate and dry matter accumulation. Further, the highest total tuber yield was recorded with 100% NPK + 10 t FYM (21.05 t) and was on par with 25% N supplied as Chromolaena incorporation (20.11 t). The total N, P and K uptake by potato was increased significantly in different treatments in comparison to 100% N as FYM.
