Abstract

The 12 chromosomes of the haploid complement of Solanum ochranthum Dun. are identified at pachytene based on the chromosome length, centromere location, amount and distribution of heterochromatin, and presence or absence of telochromomeres. The chromosomes are classified into 3 groups: chromosomes 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 as nearly median 1, 4 and 9 as nearly submedian and 2 and 3 as nearly sub-terminal. The short arm of chromosome 3 is associated with the nucleolus.
