Abstract

Seedlings of 44 tuberosum × andigena crosses were screened against PVX, PVY; early blight, late blight, powdery scab, wart, brown rot and cyst forming nematodes. Clone Nos. 528/1, 587/2 and 688/10 possessed resistance to late blight, early blight and cyst forming nematodes; the first two clones were also resistant to PVY and the last one to PVX. Clones 594/23 and 647/2 were resistant to PVX, PVY, early blight and late blight but were susceptible to cyst nematodes. High degree of resistance was also recorded in clones 587/4, 594/23, 647/2, 688/10 and 688/20 for PVX; 528/8 and 647/2 for PVY; 528/8, 538/28, 594/23 and 647/2 for early blight; 538/28, 594/23 and 633/2 for late blight; 587/4, 664/3, 669/1, 688/20 for powdery scab; 587/2, 612/42, 612/45, 664/2 and 688/10 for wart; 528/8 and 664/2 for cyst forming nematodes. None of the clones tested were resistant to brown rot pathogen.
