Studies on resistance of potato varieties against early blight

Thirty varieties of potato collected from different sources were tested for their resistance against early blight incited by Alternaria solani both in the laboratory as well as field. None of the varieties were completely immune to infection of A. solani. Darjeeling Red Round showed very high degree of resistance. Kufri Sindhuri, C-990 and local variety ‘Kanchepti’ were found to be fairly resistance.
