Abstract

A manual wheel type tool bar alongwith an attachment for placing the fertilizer in single or double band and simultaneously marking the impressions for seed potato placement has been designed and developed. Adjustable orifice with hand oscillated agitator has been employed for, metering the fertilizer. Fertilizer application rate, inter-row spacing and seed to seed spacing within the rows can be adjusted over wide range. It covered about 0.7 ha per day (8 hours) at walking speed of about 2.5 km per hour when operated by two persons. It can also be used for other crops like maize, groundnut, cotton, cauliflower, cabbage, sweet potato, colocasia, etc.
