Abstract

The influence of farmyard manure (FYM), P and K applied to the seed crop of potato on the yielding potential of seed tubers was studied in a pot experiment. There were large differences in the concentration of N, P and K of seed tubers arising due to application of FYM, P and K to the seed crop. The plants raised from seed tubers of FYM treated plots outyielded the seed produced from P and PK treatments. The crop uptake of N, P and K was likewise reflected. The yield and uptake of P and K were positively related to P and K reserves in seed tubers, the effect of K being more canspicuous while N reserves in seed tubers showed no relationship with the yield.
