Studies on three potato varieties, Up-to-Date. Kufri Chandramukhi and Kufri Sindhuri, showed that potato viruses X and S increased up to 10-fold within a single growing seasson in the field. Spread occurred mostly along the rows. Even 2 percent initial infection in the crop reduce yields by over 20 percent. Infection reduced both the number and weight of tubers.
