Abstract

The efficacy of 25 different chemicals including fungicides and antiseptics was studied by immersion method against P. oxysporum and P. solani var. coeruleum, causing dry rot of potato tubers in storage. Panolil (5%), Formaldehyde (5%), Mancocide (2%} and Agallol (0.5%) were able to kill the pathogens completely. However, these chemicals could not kill the deep seated inocula in diseased tubers. Panolil, Formaldehyde and Agallol had phytotoxic effects on youmg sprouts whereas Mancocide was not phytotoxic.
