This article by a regular user of different libraries but a non-LIS professional looks at the emerging electronic communication in libraries from a subjective and impressionistic perspective and argues in a half-serious-half-humorous vein that the electronic environment has resulted in three kinds of losses: the loss of self-importance (in the author's own case); the loss of a sense of discovery; and the loss of comfort and solitude.
