New Perspective Librarianship in the ICT Era

Abstract

In the present day, library and librarian are two dichotomies of library and information society. It is in the changing velocity of time fulfilling the needs of the different branches of knowledge. The implementation of new technologies in the library and information centres is an indispensable and basic requirement to meet the demands of the users’. It is essential in the field of acquisition of library resources and disseminates them for complete satisfaction of users and excellence of the organisation. At present, the quality services are possible only due to the new type applications in computer technologies used in the library management and services than the traditional pattern. So for this, the aim of this paper is to highlight the importance of the library professionals for educational development and to create awareness in bringing out the library literacy among the users’ and also to narrow down the gap among the students, research scholars and the faculty members in fulfilling their day-to-day requirements from the library and information centres in the present day ICT scenario.
