A Study on University Grant Commission Educational Testing Bureau (UGC-NET) Library and Information Science Result (June 2012–15)

Abstract

This paper provides an overview of University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test and determines the variance in the percentage of marks and analysis of its results conducting entire objective type's examination during the period of June 2012–2015, except additional result for the eligibility of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship in colleges and universities in Indian in the library and information science subject community based. The findings show the overall average percentage of marks for Assistant Professor (AP) and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), 59.83 and 64.98% by Un-Reserved UR, 54.85 and 61.63% by Other Backward Caste OBC, 51.85 and 58.28% by Scheduled Caste SC, 51.77 and 57.38% by Scheduled Tribes ST and 51.20 and 58.44% by Persons with Disability PWD were obtained following with overall standard % difference between JRF and AP occurring 7.24% for PWD, 6.78% for OBC, 6.43% for SC, 5.61% for ST with minimum 5.15% for UR category candidates. Result reflects percentage of marks deplete, which never goes beyond June 2012 exam, and overall average % has not much difference, and finally some suggestions put forward for development and improvement of exam-related issues.
