Intellectual property rights (IPRs) allow people to own their creativity and innovation in the same way that citizens can own physical property. IPRs are safeguarded for several years through enactment of relevant laws and taking action for infringement of the same. However, the digital information world, in spite of several advantages to have global access, brought in technical, ethical, legal and economic challenges thathave implications on the libraries in discharging their functions and provides access to digital information. How the of library and information science professionals have to be aware of these advances and in particular accessing, preserving and disseminating digital information in a world where data security and network security became more challenging and important.
