Abstract

Technology has altered the traditional library beyond recognition. Advancement in information and communication technology and rapid growth of industrial information in electronic formats has changed the way of information services and usage. Corporate librarians may take on different roles like information architect, data base & network creator, web designer, online publisher, knowledge engineer and decision supportspecialist. These dramatic changes have impacted significantly on the skills requirements for library and information science (LIS) professionals. ‘LIS skills are good currency, but only for those with the flexibility and insight to exploit the opportunities’ Abram (2010). This paper presents the corporate librarianship skills and its scalability in the post-digital era.
