Abstract

The study explored different characteristics of linking study of sixteen Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) websites. All the IITs have their own websites, and all websites working under homogeneous Domain Name System ‘.ac.in’. To achieve the goal, these are a need to have websites of each academic institute to perform well and stay in the competition. The World Wide Web has now become one of the main sources of information on academic and research activities, and therefore, it is an excellent platform to test new methods of evaluating webometrics activities. The twentieth century may be described as the century of the development of metric sciences. Libramatrics, bibliometrics, scintomertics, technometrics, webometrics or cybernetics is developed in the twentieth century. A web site is a collection of related web pages images videos or other digital assets. IIT libraries are most important for IITs. In the last several years, many research studies have focused on how people use electronic resources or on their feelings about resources in the library. These studies draw many conclusions about the behaviour and preferences of library users.
