The wealth of research is vast and keeps on growing with each passing day. Research is being conducted in different institutions with collaboration from various sectors. But the research done in times of conflict varies from the peace period. With this aim, the present study tries to understand the effect of conflict on the research by taking two state universities, namely University of Kashmir (KU) and University of Jammu (JU) during conflict period of 1990s in Kashmir. The present work analysed, explored and compared research output in conflict period in the two universities which came into existence at the same time and are within one state. A highly representative survey is carried out using online resource database tool-Web of Science-so that comprehensive and scientific results are achieved to fulfil objectives of the study. The study reveals that during the conflict period from 1989 to 1999, there was a huge amount of literature published from JU in comparison to KU. The data compiled also indicate that JU has more percentage in terms of collaborations made. More collaboration has been made in the peaceful environment in the JU compared with KU.
