Knowledge Sharing Attitudes among the LIS Professionals in Karnataka: A Study

Abstract

The main purpose of knowledge sharing and knowledge management is to share useful knowledge, best practices and methods to give solution to the problem, to enhance skills and to avoid redoing the things. Knowledge sharing and knowledge management are two interdependent concepts, whereas knowledge management is a broader and knowledge sharing is an integral part of knowledge management. In the scholarly communication process, knowledge sharing plays a vital role in professional as well as organisational success in all kind of profession, the Library and Information Science profession also not an exceptional to it. The LIS professionals share their knowledge about their day-to-day activities to solve problem, improve knowledge and betterment of work and hence betterment of library services. The present study is an attempt to investigate LIS professionals awareness towards knowledge sharing, factors influencing in knowledge sharing, perceptions about knowledge sharing and level of competence in usage of knowledge sharing tools and methods.
