Ranking of Arts and Humanities Journals Published in India: A Scientometric Analysis

Abstract

This paper on scientometric study analyses the ranking of Indian journals in the area of arts and humanities. SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) data are used to analyse the journals. Spearman's correlation coefficient is used to find out the correlation of data ranked between citable documents and total cites. There are only 15 titles listed in SJR (2015) from arts and humanities subject area and their SJR rank varies from 0.100 to 0.468, being the journal ‘South Asia Research’ on top of the table and the journal ‘Asian Agri-History’ with the highest h-index of 10. The study reveals the fact that no journal from the arts and humanities area published in India having SJR score of more than 1 in 2015.
