Abstract

This article focuses on the new developments in the scholarly publishing. Recent advancements in the internet and web technologies have allured the new ways of thinking, behaviour, doing business and in education and training. These developments in web technology and information technology have caused a shift of the traditional print journals to electronic journals. Our society today is a knowledge society. Production of knowledge, its distribution in society and its effective use in the day-to-day activities has formed a strong base for the growth of a learned society which in turn forms a part of a healthy global economy. Electronic journals are the upsurge in the methods of research and scholarly communication which are taking us to more bright future in research. There is a requirement of more awareness and training with the help of experts to enhance the usage of electronic journals among the scholars and faculty of higher education institutions.
