Collaborative Research Trend and Authorship Pattern of the Desidoc Journal of Library and Information Technology 2000–2015

Abstract

DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) is one of the oldest journals in the field of Library and Information Science published bimonthly from India since 1981 by Defense Scientific Documentation Centre, New Delhi, India. The present study has been carried out on the scholarly research articles of DJLIT journal published during the last 16 years, i.e., in between 2000 and 2015. An attempt has been made to analyse the article contribution of DJLIT journal published during the year 2000–2015, in order to explore article distribution pattern of the journal, authorship pattern, prolific authors, degree of collaborations and author's productivity. This study reveals that a total of 582 numbers of articles have been published in last 16 years (2000–2015) in 92 issues and out of the published 582 papers, 238 articles published by two authors followed by 222 articles by single author. On an average of 6.32 articles published in each issues of the journal during the period of investigation. Average degree of collaboration of the DJLIT journal is 0.61.
