Awareness and Usage of Online Catalogue by the Students of Tata Institute of Social Sciences: A Case Study

Abstract

Today people browse Google for tiny information to a complex research query. The experience of using search engines like Google has increased the expectations of the library users. Thus library professionals are facing huge challenge to provide similar facility while searching library resources. This paper discusses the effective use of Online Catalogue by the research scholars of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Tuljapur Off Campus for their research work. It (Online Catalogue) provides access to physical as well as electronic resources of all four TISS campuses on a single platform 24x7 online. The results of the study reveal that besides user friendly, it is helpful for users to keep a track on their ‘search history’, ‘reading history’, ‘summary’, ‘Tags’ etc.
