The thoughts, beliefs, practices, events and intellectual output of a society has been preserved in diverse forms which may be made of stone, bamboo, cloth or paper. But now the world is overwhelmed with digital information which enforces the library professionals to create digital preservation of the print and born digital documents. This paper focuses on the new urge of library users for digital preservation and to keep focus on achieving the same, the generous path a librarian needs to follow facing all the outlined challenges coming on his way. It analyses the steps to be taken for digital preservation and by implementing the same, which value addition can be reflected in the services of libraries.
