Classification of documents: A tool of knowledge organisation

Many unknown librarians working in different libraries in every corner of our country with dignity, Provat Kumar Mukhopadhyay was one of them. His great contribution in the field of knowledge organization was remarkable. He framed two digit decimal notations for classification of books of regional languages. A small college library followed his decimal notation for classifying books of regional language. Here, the author of this article as staff of this library tries to note the advantages and disadvantages of this classification scheme to classify the books and to retrieve it from the shelf, spending less time as possible.
