Abstract

Author self-citation is the practice of citing one's own previous publications in his new publication. This is the practice common among the scientific community of our globe. The present study aims to measure the prevailing trend of self-citations index with a new formula named as KS (Kaliyaperumal and Santhakumr) formula. For this purpose, the study employed the formula to measure the self citation index among the top ten authors in mobile technology literature output at global level which are indexed in a web of science database. The study also examines the aspects like percentage of self-citations in each individual author and the average number of self-citations per publication etc.
