Information seeking behaviour of undergraduate students: A case study of Adi Chunachangiri University Constituent Colleges, Karnataka, India

Abstract

This study focuses on the use of various library services and facilities given by Adi Chunchanagiri University Library, Karnataka, India. The study covers undergraduate students of Engineering, Medical, Pharmacy, Education and commerce students of constituent colleges in Adi Chunachangiri University. A sample size of 270 was used for the study, random sampling technique was used in selecting the sampled respondents. The study opted the use of questionnaires, interviews and observation methods, this study used the survey method and questionnaire tool for data collection. The majorities of the respondents in this study choose the print form of (46.6%) of respondents say ‘general books’ are highly useful. The majority of the respondents replied that the (37.7%) use e-journals always. The purpose of information seeking in Adichunchanagiri University, the biggest choice of the purpose of ‘Preparing examinations’, among the respondents. Many respondents scoring, 128(47.4%) say ‘strongly agree’ for the purpose of information seeking in Adichunchanagiri University.
