Research publications of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar during 1966–2022: A bibliometric analysis

Abstract

The study undertakes a comprehensive investigation into the intellectual outputs of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology since its inception. It gives a clear picture of the research outputs of last 55 years in various disciplines of the university in the line of bibliometric study parameters. For the purpose, the SCOPUS database has been used for data exporting and analyses and for visualization employing RS tudio, VOS viewer and Excel. Areas like research productivity year wise, citations impact of the productivity, collaboration-both national and international, top collaborating universities and institutions, the journals as media for communication, the most preferred journals where publications have been made, authors with most publications, the numbers of citation received, degree of collaboration, bibliographic coupling with geographic based on countries, co-authorship network based on author, co-occurrence networked based on all keywords, the papers having top citations of the study university during the period under the study have been analyzed, and comparison with other five SAUs established contemporarily. The study reveals that 7543 and unique 2962 authors have published 1816 papers in 591 journals with 9726 citations. A comparative picture of research outputs with the other state agriculture universities established contemporarily shown.

This study could serve as a good model for evaluating the performance of OUAT Bhubaneswar's scientific productions using bibliometrics and visualisation approaches.
