The main objective of the present study is to find the current status of the public library system in Lucknow. The public library is the local information centre, making all the knowledge and information available to its users. The study used a survey method, and data were collected from the 15 public libraries in Lucknow using questionnaires as a tool of data collection. The survey showed various challenges for the public libraries of Lucknow, including shortage of professionally qualified employees, paucity of funds, lack of ICT equipment, and so on.
