Bibliometric Analysis of the Literature on Periodontology

The literature in the field of Periodontology as indexed in MEDLINE covered in PubMed for the period 2000–2019 were retrieved for this study. A total of 38336 records/publications were identified in the field of Periodontology, it is noticed that there is a minor fluctuation trend in publications of Periodontology research productivity year after year. It is also observed that there is a fluctuation trend of records in the study of Indian records. It was found that 50.93% of records are journal articles in the field of Periodontology. The United States is the prime publisher and published 17754 records. RGR has decreased and the Dt has shown an increasing trend, but both results were in the minor fluctuation trend in this study period. A total of 89 journals were identified as important journals in the field of Periodontology. The result of 89 important journals published by different countries; the United States dominated the first rank; followed by England and India. Activity Index is greater than 100 in the study period of ten years out of twenty years, which exposes that those years were more activity of Periodontology research in India compare to the World's publications.
