A library serves as a repository of data, information, knowledge and wisdom with the goal of identifying, collecting, organizing and disseminating organic materials. However, these materials are susceptible to various threats such as biological, chemical, environmental, human and natural calamities leading to their deterioration. Regular supervision and checking by librarians can mitigates these threats and ensure the library's preservation for the future. This paper explores different threats to libraries along with their preventive and curative measures emphasizing the importance of safety and security measures.
