Delivery and enhancement of library services in academic libraries leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool: A study

The motto behind library services, academic libraries in particular, is not limited to the information needs of the user; there are several services in the library profession serving its users. Metamorphosis in library services from traditional to technological trends, the influence and influx of Artificial Intelligence (AI) mandated the libraries to adopt this as a new tool to serve effectively and intelligently. This manuscript identifies the application of AI in various library services such as expert systems for indexing, cataloging, classification, acquisition, and reference service. AI-related concepts include natural language processing, pattern recognition, and robotic activities in library services. The paper also looks at operational efficiency to extend and enhance its services to larger groups to their satisfaction level. The study confirms that the utilization of AI in academic libraries is a revolution in library services, meeting the users’ ever-changing information needs and offering intelligent services for teaching, learning, and research activities of library users. Finally, this study helps us understand AI in the library parlance.
