Abstract

The article gives a brief overview of the Internet and World Wide Web by providing the current statistics in the growth, and development in the Internet users. It spells out the information seeking choices in the pre Internet era, and traces the influence of electronic media on these choices after the advent of Internet. The paper discusses the changing dimensions in libraries and LIS professionals, because of these happening changes. It brings to fore certain problem areas on the Internet, and their credibility issues. It stresses on certain glaring facts related to Web credibility, and surveys based observations. Lastly, the article suggests some widely used parameters of evaluation, and projects some considerations for the future.
