The Internet is growing so rapidly that it should become increasingly helpful for collection development. As more libraries put their catalogs online and as technology improves, it should become easier to compare the holdings of two libraries or to search only for items not in your own library. Yet with the development of new technologies, the possibilities of innovative interlibrary cooperation projects emerge: libraries combining their efforts through various consortia are trying to get access to electronic information sources more economically. The intent of this paper is to provide guidance in using the Internet to extend the techniques to use in the area of collection development.
