Abstract

This study investigates the training experiences and professional development of library professionals in the context of research, various areas of ICT, library software, and perceived training benefits. This study surveyed 32 professionals from academic institutions using a structured questionnaire. The findings highlight Koha as the most commonly used and trained software, with research methodology and referencing tools being the most attended training areas. Respondents affirmed that training improved their technical skills, service delivery, and adaptability to evolving technologies. Most respondents strongly agreed that training improves their responsiveness to user needs and keeps them abreast of professional trends. The findings underscore the importance of ongoing professional training for capacity building and highlight the need for structured and targeted training initiatives. The results emphasize the value of continuous, targeted training in supporting professional growth and service excellence. This study offers preliminary insights to guide broader research and inform the development of future training programs for library professionals in the digital age.
