The forms and formats of knowledge creation, storage and delivery mechanisms underwent unprecedented changes with the application of information communication technologies. Changes are natural in the growth of any profession. However the challenges of the contemporary digital environment are significant and to cope with them the professionals have to learn and act beyond the boundaries of the LIS profession. The article discusses the challenges posed and the new opportunities opened for the LIS professionals in the digital environment. Suggestion has been made for attitudinal change to sustain in the digital environment.
