Management of Manuscripts - A study of select Libraries in Hyderabad

Manuscripts (Mss) have been a major and lone source of information to know the past history, culture, traditions, inventions and discoveries. However manuscripts are getting destroyed as we obliterate the ancient knowledge or civilization given to us by our ancient historians in the form of writing. This research paper examines the Management and organization of mss in select Libraries of Hyderabad such as Salar Jung Museum, Andhra Pradesh State Oriental Manuscripts Research Institute and Andhra State Archives. This research paper also examines the classification cataloguing conservation & preservation methods and procedures of the mss used by this Libraries/Institutes. For this purpose heads of the institutions, officers, staff members and other experts are consulted. Records and other informative materials are noted. The present study adopts survey and observation method. The study has vital implications for Library Management in the Mss Libraries/Institutions.
