Abstract

The role of libraries as community information centre has been long recognized. The present era is recognized as the period for rapid growth of electronic industry. In the ancient days libraries in India used to adopt the ‘Book Reading’ system. Now majority of libraries are hybrid in nature with a Digital conventional, electronic collections and services. In recent times the society is moving towards the direction of Information age where information has become very vital component for overall development. The technological advancement and changing trends have put forward new challenges before library and information professionals.
