Libraries in India are facing the problem of shrinking budgets and at the other end exponential rise in the prices of journals. UGC-INFONET, INDEST, CSIR e-journal consortia, IIM Library consortia and HELINET Consortia are five major initiatives that have come to the rescue of libraries so that they can cater to the needs of clients, depending upon them. Library consortium is collaborative activity of a group of libraries to cope up with above mentioned crisis.
