Effectiveness of a library services is now largely depends upon the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with adequate infrastructure and skilled library professionals. This study attempts to reveal the gradual implementation of modern technologies in operation of library activities and to identify various components of ICT which are used in day to day library functions. This also delineates the functions, impact and challenges of ICT based library system that can be achieved with the convergence of computing and telecommunications. This paper examines the situation of ICT application and various problems in private Engineering and Management colleges of Orissa.
