This paper discuss the need of performance appraisal in libraries especially in University Libraries. It is also elaborates functions and limitations and also the related studies of the performance appraisal. The library personnel needs to be exposed to latest training in the fields of information technology, which is possible through performance appraisal. This paper explains the application of Performance Appraisal in University Educational System.
