Knowledge Management (KM) is completely new idea and technique of management. In knowledge economy era, the library will become a treasure-house of human knowledge, participate in knowledge innovation, and become a vital relationship in the knowledge innovation chain. KM is a recently emerging, interdisciplinary business model dealing with all aspects of knowledge within the context of the firm, including knowledge creation, codification, sharing, and how these activities promote learning and innovation. This paper briefly discusses the various applications and tools like methods, practices, tools and technologies, available to knowledge management practitioners. This paper is also highlighted the significance of knowledge management in academic libraries and resource centres.
