Citing Pattern of Poultry Scientists in India

Abstract

A citation analysis of doctoral dissertations submitted to Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar of its Library and Information Center was performed as a way of determining the use of information resources made by the researchers of the University. The total number of 21 doctoral dissertations studied generated a total of 2392 citations. The Theses and Dissertations of citations are studied by year wise submission, Ranking of periodicals and Age wise distribution of journal articles cited were analyzed. The study reveals that journals in the most preferred sources of information used by the researchers. Accounting 1676, (70.06%) of total citations. The journal poultry science has ranked the highest 532, citations accounting to (31.74%) of the total journal citations. This result of the study may be used as a means of evaluative tool for quality collection of the host library.
