Abstract

The information needs of the users of libraries of engineering colleges have become complex and problematic due to the tremendous publications and interdisciplinary researches that are being promoted at the level of higher education. The librarians working in these institutions need to pay attention to acquire appropriate need based literature on these subjects to the utmost satisfaction of their academic staff and students. In this critical situation, librarians should have a clear understanding of their users’ needs and their information seeking behaviour. This paper examines the information seeking behaviour of teachers of engineering colleges in Bhubaneswar, Odisha by exploring into the practicality of usage of information resources with findings that are vital for promoting information systems and services for academic excellence of the respective institutions in future.
