Evaluation of Managerial and ICT Skills’ Competences of the Library Professionals Working in the Engineering College Libraries in Karnataka State: A Survey

Abstract

With the development of information and communication technology (ICT), the library professionals must possess the advanced ICT skills along with certain management skills and competencies. To manage all these technology and techniques as well as subordinate staff and the activities of the library, various management competences are needed by the library professionals. This study was conducted to evaluate the competences in managerial and ICT skills between different designations of library professionals (such as the Librarian, Deputy Librarian, Assistant Librarian and Library Assistants) working at the engineering college libraries affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum (VTU) in the Karnataka State, (India).
