Abstract

Computer-mediated communication (CMC) research in information science is progressively using interpretive theories, which is also the case in the methods used in CMC research. Different of methods are used including content analysis, discourse and hermeneutic analysis. With the fast diffusion of social media, where people endorse meaning in different modes of information – text, image, sound – it is likely that the use of different qualitative methods will increase.
