Abstract

The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) is pivotal in India’s rural development providing 100 days of guaranteed employment and combating poverty. Despite this, tribal communities face persistent poverty. This research focuses on MGNREGA’s impact on tribal communities in West Singhbhum District, Jharkhand. Examining participation, especially of women, it evaluates its influence on livelihoods using data from 250 respondents. Regression analysis shows a positive correlation between MGNREGA participation and improved livelihoods, highlighting its role in uplifting tribal populations. This study unveils tangible benefits of MGNREGA, affirming its position as a catalyst for socio-economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
