Investment behaviour of women college teachers: An empirical study based on Kolkata, West Bengal

Abstract

In the contemporary world of Finance, Investor’s perception and behavior towards investment is a prime interest area of study. This study concentrates on women investors of the teaching community from the metropolitan city, Kolkata. Samples has been collected from government sponsored and private colleges. The study focuses on their current investment pattern and the factors influencing the investors to opt for such investing pattern/profile. To accomplish objectives, demographic profile of investors, and its relationship with the current investment pattern/profile has been evaluated with the help of the Chi-square test. The study also concentrates on the factors shaping investment perception of the investors while choosing current investment profile. The objective of the investors to invest in their current profile has been tested with the statistical tool Factor Analysis and investor’s perception on their present investment profile has been depicted calculating the weightage of the individual variables to conclude this objective.
