The present faunistic survey was carried out in three contiguous districts of Karnataka, South India viz., Bangalore, Chikkaballapur and Kolar.
On grapes (Vitis vinifera L.) two scolytids viz., Xylosandrus crassiusculus Motschulsky and Xylosandrus compactus (Eichhoff) were found. The latter is a new record on grapes and was mainly confined to rooted cuttings while the former is a serious pest infesting trunks especially cv, Bangalore Blue. The other scolytids obtained were Hypothenemus seriatus (Eichhoff) and Hypothenemus eruditus Westwood on jackfruit, Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam., H. seriatus on sapota, Achras zapota (L.), Hypocryphalus mangiferae (Stebbing) on mango, Mangifera indica L. and X. compactus on custard apple, Annona squamosa (L.). All these other scolytids are first records on their respective hosts.
