Management of citrus scale, Chrysomphalus aonidum (Hemiptera: Diaspididae) on Coorg mandarin (Citrus reticulata)

Field experiments were conducted at Central Horticultural Experiment Station, Chettalli, Kodagu, Karnataka, during 2013–14 to evaluate seven insecticides, an organic salt and neem oil against citrus scale, Chrysomphalus aonidum (Hemiptera: Diaspididae) on Coorg mandarin. Results revealed that after 5 days of treatment scale population reduction was noticed consistently in deltamenthrin @ 1.5ml/L, followed by imidacloprid (0.3ml/L), thiamethoxam (0.25g/L), profenofos (1ml/L) and acephate (1g/L) (F=10.23; df=9; p <0.00). Seven days after spray (F=25.19; df=9; p < 0.00) deltamethrin was significantly superior over all other treatments followed by thiamethoxam, profenofos and acephate.
